2019 APA Annual Convention
Philippine Psychological Corporation won a citation during the 127th American Psychological Association (APA) Annual Convention for its poster presentation on the “Concept of Peace and Personality Traits of the Filipino Military Peacekeepers“. The research was authored and presented by PhilPsyCor’s Technical Director and Psychologist Dr. Christabel Garcia-Chao, RPsy, RGC. The poster was presented on August 9, 2019 at the McCormick Convention Center in Michigan Avenue, Chicago. It was cited as one of the winners (Third Placing) by the APA International Psychology Division for the category of First Author-Single Institution poster competition. To win in this competition, the entry must be internationally relevant, interesting and well-presented.
The study highlighted the Filipino Peacekeepers’ perspectives on the meaning of peace and the personal qualities that they bring to their critical mission of safeguarding peace around the globe. As the author and representative of PhilPsyCor, Dr. Chao is thankful for the opportunity to have shared the findings of the study in the biggest conference of psychologists and allied mental health practitioners from different parts of the world. PhilPsyCor hopes that the presentation has fostered awareness on the characteristics and needs of the Filipino Military Peacekeepers,and how culture influences people’s perceptions,traits and behaviors.
